The Jump-Meeting Cottbus now shines silver

European Athletics, the European governing body for athletics, classifies athletics meetings according to their level. The Jump-Meeting Cottbus — previously a Bronze-level meeting — will now carry Silver status for the first time.
With its promotion to the World Indoor Tour Silver level, the Jump-Meeting Cottbus is moving even closer to the world’s top athletics meetings. In Germany, only the two ISTAF Indoor meetings in Berlin and Düsseldorf hold this status during the indoor season.
A look at the Silver requirements shows that the high-caliber jumping meeting has already met several of them — including providing an English- and German-language livestream of the event. Doping controls, covering accommodation, travel expenses and transportation for all participants and accompanying staff, prize money, and certain sustainability requirements were also already in place. However, the standards are now considerably stricter.
For example, the prize-money pool must now be significantly larger. This should provide an additional incentive for even more top athletes to come to Cottbus, especially since athletes can earn considerably more world-ranking points at a Silver-level meeting. Together with its sponsors, the Jump-Meeting will therefore have to raise a significantly larger budget.
A delegate from European Athletics will attend the Jump-Meeting Cottbus and verify that all the requirements are being met.
