Once again, Sam Kendricks (USA) managed to thrill the crowd at the Lausitz Arena. With his final attempt at 5.75m, he secured the win. He came just short of clearing 5.80m – and enthusiastically cheered on the jumps of the women’s winner as well. Christina Honsel from TV Wattenscheid cleared both 1.88m and 1.91m on her third attempts and was ultimately the only one to clear 1.95m. She is the first German athlete ever to win the Springer Meeting.

In the women’s competition, Italy’s Idea Pieroni (1.88m) and Uzbekistan’s Safina Sadullaeva (1.88m) followed in second and third place. In the men’s event, Ernest Obiena (PHL) took second with a clearance of 5.65m, and Bo Kanda Lita Baehre from Düsseldorf Athletics placed third, also with 5.65m.

The sold-out Lausitz Arena saw a fantastic fresh start for the Springer Meeting under new meeting director Robert Sammler. The event featured a more modern and digital presentation, while maintaining its legendary atmosphere and knowledgeable audience. Given the early point in the season, performances were still relatively cautious. Among the men, 5.65m proved to be the decisive height, while 1.88m played that role in the women’s field. Fan favorite Piotr Lisek (POL) unfortunately had to bow out at 5.55m and even apologized to the organizing team – a sign of how closely connected some athletes have become to the meeting over the years.
